Gush Etzion Winery

Gush Etzion is in the Judean region, situated south of Jerusalem, at one of the highest altitudes in Israel. This area has been recognized for thousands of years for wine growing and merited a special blessing in the bible that Jacob granted to his son, Judah. The climate, differences in day and night temperatures, chalky soil, the sloping vineyards, and altitude of over 900 meters above sea level, create ideal conditions for wine growing. In 1995, local farmers began planting vines of new varietals from around the world and thus revitalized the wine industry in the region.

In 2010, approximately 120 acers of grape vines are grown from many varieties; Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir, Sira, Morvedre, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, White Riesling, Gewurtztraminer Rosen, and Viognier.
In 2005, a boutique winery and visitors’ center was established at the Gush Etzion Junction.

The winery arranges tours on a metal bridge built specially for viewing the fermentation vats and production area, wine tastings in a tasting room, and wine can be purchased at the winery store. In addition, a kosher dairy/seafood restaurant operates on the premises.

A large area for events was built, it ban include more than 250 people.
In 2013 the winery produced approximately 40,000 bottles of wine under three labels;
Nahal Hapirin - The basic label, offering a red or white blend.
Lonely Oak - the varietal label, including red and white.
Emek Habracha - The premium label, red and white.

With the production of wines from this region, we are attempting to connect modern wine production with a local tradition dating back to biblical times, strengthening through agriculture the connection with the land.
